The Box
Created for University of Technology
Project Objectives:
The Box was created for The University of Technology in Sydney which was looking for an effective way to attract prospective students to its courses in the faculties of Engineering and Information Technology.
The project objective was to engage online audiences, especially gen-Y's with a multi-level puzzle game that encourages the player to think outside the box.
UTS’s agency Tribal DDB engaged 3RD sense to build a game and surrounding website that was fun, interactive and showcases the kind of students the faculty was looking for.
Outcomes Achieved:
The Box immediately establishes that the faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is looking for students who are capable of thinking outside the box. The style of the game and the surrounding website creates a sense of fun and by adding a story element the user immediately engages with their little 'mononaut' and his quest to escape and look for something more.
Social networking is seen as an important factor in the success of online campaigns so as well as being able to create levels, and show off their high scores online, users can involve their friends through the microblogging tool 'Twitter'.
The ability for users to create their own levels means that the game will continue to grow and provide new challenges even for those who have mastered the 25 original levels.
Links on the website also contain vital information for users to be able to find out more about the Engineering and Information Technology faculties.
