Client: Kids Help Line

Project: The Thinking Brain Game

Deliverables: HTML 5 Game that plays on desktop, tablet and mobile in the browser

The Challenge

As well as providing amazing telephone support, Kids Help Line also offers a huge range of resources for kids online. They use imagery, text and animations to help kids learn how to deal with a whole range of situations. They’d never tried a game before though.

They challenged us to work with them to create an online game that was fun but also equipped kids with a range of strategies to help deal with anxiety.

Like all not-for-profits, they also wanted to get great bang for buck too!

WE DELIVERED

The Thinking Brain Game is all about engaging your ‘Thinking Brain’ to solve a range of image and word puzzles. Set in a brain which starts off a crisis, players have to collect a series of ‘brain hacks’ and help to calm the brain.

As they are enjoying the game and solving the puzzles, they are also learning how to use those brain hacks for themselves.

The game includes hacks that will help the survival brain, the emotional brain and the thinking brain itself.

The game also drives players to explore the broader range of resources on the Kids Help Line web site.

THE OUTCOMES

The Thinking Brain Game is a new type of content and it’s probably no surprise that it is already gaining a lot of traction.

Of course, some kids are playing because they like playing games, whilst others genuinely need help.

Either way, the game is helping to equip a new generation with strategies to help deal with anxiety and that has got to be a good thing!
